Can I stop a business from charging to my card after making an online purchase but I never got a product?

I tried to buy a motherboard from PCPlanetSystems online. I needed it to match my old one so I wouldn’t have to reload everything. But it never came. Every time I ask I get some answer like “It’s coming from our Asia warehouse”, “It’s coming from our Canada warehouse”, “It was shipped to California”, etc. All they do is give me the runaround. Naively, I made the purchase before checking user reviews, later finding out they are not reputable and have done the same to others. One person actually got charged for nothing and had a protracted battle in getting his money back. I do not want to do that, I plan on cancelling the order, but am still nervous. Is there any way to block them from charging to my credit card (Mastercard)?

Well, if it went from Asia to Canada to California its getting closer and that means its on its way.

Anyway, you must first make an honest attempt to settle the issue with the company. If they don’t respond, contact your bank that issued the mastercard.

They should help you determine what you can do. You will probably have to dispute the charge in writing.

Keep in mind that if the product does arrive, you probably can’t dispute the charge. Banks will block or remove unauthorized charges, which would be the case if the website charges you but never delivers. But if they end up delivering the product and simply refuse to refund your money because they don’t accept returns, then its not a fraudulent charge because you agreed to the charge originally, the fact that you changed your mind later doesn’t make it fraud.
